En Rieles
Under the supervision of head designer Alberto Rigau, I joined a team of designers, architects and artists to design an exhibition proposing a lightrail train connecting the metro train’s last stop in Santurce to the increasingly over-populated Old San Juan isle. The exhibition uses a variety of illustrative methods to carry a wide spectrum of information. The content ranges from historical data about previous incarnations of lightrail trains in different parts of Puerto Rico, to case studies based in other cities around the world, as well as raw data regarding the excessive amounts of cars that currently drive into the old city on a daily basis and the effects they have on our daily lives and the city’s infrastructure.
The exhibition takes many shapes, using sculpture, graphic design, industrial design, ephemeral architecture, an impressive model train, interactive software, 3-D projections, video examples and a pocket-size printed catalog to construct an experience intended to spark conversation and voice a concern. It is scheduled to remain open until mid-2009 in the Rafael Carrión Pacheco Exhibit Hall, located in the Banco Popular building of Old San Juan.
